I was talking to my mom the other day about this and felt that I needed to post something on here. So here it goes take it as you want but this is how I feel. I've reached a point in my life where I want to be more "OLD FASHIONED". Where I really don't care what others think or how they mother they're kids or if they are a better wife than I am. All I really care about is how I'm doing as a wife and mother and not trying to be those as well as my own "individual person" because I can't do the things that are most important to me if I try to do it all. Here is a talk that I ♥ you might want to read! I love to read blogs and it used to be a daily occurrence for me but not anymore. I felt that I was getting to a point where I wanted to become someone else because they "appeared" to be a better mom, or a more fun mom or a better housekeeper or a better wife that I was. I found myself comparing and wanting to be someone that I'm just not. Let's face it girls we've all "embellished" on our blogs a bit right?! Well I've come to the conclusion that SUPER MOM AND WIFE just aren't out there. I'm not perfect, will never be and all I can do is my best and that makes me ENOUGH! I want to be the kind of wife and mother that is defined by my family and what i do for my kids and husband. I'm reaching a point that I'm actually finding myself through striving to be better at this instead of the opposite of what I kind of thought all along, I thought I'd lose myself. This leads me to the real point to my post and thoughts. ( I know your thinking this isn't her point?! I usually do add ten extra steps when only 3 are needed but then I wouldn't be me right!!!) I would like to tell you about the women in my life that have played major rolls (by their examples) helping me reach this new found stage in my life of becoming more "old fashioned" as the world would say...

My Grandma Brimhall... I never got to spend lots of time learning from her ( I wish I had I'm sure she would have taught me ALOT) but the few things I did learn from her and still learn from stories I read about her are priceless. She's taught me that I need to share my love of my Savior Jesus Christ more often. She was amazing at this. I found a few recipes that she had written down for my mom and I've started making her Whole Wheat Bread recipe (BY SCRATCH without a bread machine) every week and it's to die for. It's helped me learn a skill that I didn't have before. Even though it would have been ten times better for her to teach it to me herself. Her Chocolate Pudding is kinda great as well I don't make that every week or I'd weigh 400 lb. by time this baby comes! My mom tells me that she was resourceful something that I'm striving harder to become! p.s wasn't she BEAUTIFUL, and what a talent for writing and poetry. Something I didn't inherit from her but my sister did!

My Grandma Kremin, one of the most beautiful, and talented women I know. (Grandma you can't disagree because you have 24 other grandchildren that would back me up!!) I had a chance after having Kael to live with her and Grandpa for about 6 months while our house was being finished. I learned so much about the type of wife and mother I wanted to be from having this time with her everyday. She loves her kids unconditionally, they are not perfect but she loves them with all her heart. She also loves her "inlaw" kids just as much as if they were her own. She would do anything in the world for anyone in her family. She taught me how to quilt, something that has become an addiction and I think I inherited her need to by fabric for no apparent reason. She was patient with me as I made mistake after mistake and still is the first person I call when I can't figure out how much fabric I need for this or that. She taught me to cook some of my FAVORITE dishes. Somehow they still never taste as good as when she makes them but maybe when I'm a grandma they'll be perfected like hers! She is very good at making sure Grandpa is taken care of even though he could do it himself, and in return he takes care of her. Something that I've tried harder to do. She's a selfless women who loves to serve others.

My own mother who taught me all I know. She taught me to be kind to others and to treat others the way that the Savior does. She taught me that in order to be the best wife and mother I can be I need to have my Heavenly Father an ACTIVE part of my life. She taught me how to have an orderly, clean home that my family can feel the spirit in when they are here. She taught me how important it is that my husband and children know I have a testimony and love for my Savior Jesus Christ. She taught me how to cook, and iron, and take care of babies. She taught me how to be me. She's one of the most "Old Fashioned" women I know and I love her for that.
I would say that all these women are "Old Fashioned" they all of talents and skills that they've taught me that the world would say to me are so insignificant but to me they are my world. Skills that I can use to make me a better wife and mother. Skills that one day I'll teach my own daughters and grand-daughters. One of the biggest blessings that I feel I could ever ask for. Skills that I treasure more than the world. So here is to working on becoming more "Old Fashioned".
